Welcome to Ignite Week! Microsoft Ignite 2024 – Day 1 Preview
Good morning, everyone. Today marks the kickoff of Microsoft Ignite 2024 at McCormick Place West in Chicago, Illinois.
As one of the largest technical conferences each year, Ignite brings customers, partners, and tech professionals together to explore Microsoft and Microsoft Partner technologies, network, and hopefully have a little fun. Post-COVID, I haven’t been able to shake the feeling that our industry conferences just aren’t the same, but over the last year or so, my opinion has changed. Based on recent industry conversations, we anticipate an exciting week.

What Can We Expect from Ignite 2024?
Microsoft typically doesn’t disclose the exact number of attendees at their conferences, but the in-person tickets sold out, so I’d expect many thousands of IT professionals are making the trek to the US’s 3rd largest city. I grew up and still live within a few hours’ drive of Chicago, and for anyone that hasn’t been there, it’s a great city. If you can sneak away at night, check out Wicker Park’s Piece Brewery. It’s one of my favorite spots in the city and Wicker Park is known for its vibrant arts scene, diverse dining options, and nightlife. If you like pizza and craft beer, you will be glad you went!
This year’s event officially kicks off at 9:00 am CT with the Ignite Keynote headlined by Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, live from Chicago. For those unable to attend in person, many sessions will be live-streamed online and available on-demand.
Satya Nadella and other Microsoft leaders will share how Microsoft is creating new opportunities across their platforms in this era of AI. We are eager to see how this theme develops throughout the week. The massive investment Microsoft is making in AI will eventually demand some innovative new solutions to justify the cash outlay.
Based on the official Microsoft event page, social media teasers, and industry articles, Microsoft is dedicating significant focus to:
- AI Solutions and Copilot Integrations: Big updates on Copilot and its integration into Microsoft 365 applications.
- Modern Endpoint Management with Intune: Enhancements to simplify IT operations and improve security.
